Bet on Yourself: The Transformative Journey of Cubana Chief Priest and the Power of Relentless Determination

By Chukwudi Iwuchukwu.

Five years ago, Cubana Chief Priest was a dedicated staff member of the Cubana Group, always seen alongside his boss, Obi Cubana, wherever he went. I remember the time Obi Cubana flew him to London for the first time—his excitement was palpable. Or the time he secured an ambassador gig with Bullet Energy Drink; he was ecstatic and shared his joy on Instagram.
Back then, Cubana Chief Priest was essentially Obi Cubana’s right-hand man, a loyal part of the Cubana brand.

But in 2020, things took a different turn, and they had a falling out, leading the two to go their separate ways. At that moment, Chief Priest may not have realized it, but the universe was simply setting him up for a significant elevation. Had he remained in his old role, still following Obi Cubana’s lead, he might never have reached the level of success he enjoys today.

This story reminds me of Jacob in the Bible, who wrestled with an angel all night long and endured the pain of a dislocated hip. Yet, that struggle marked the beginning of a new chapter in his life—he was renamed Israel and became the patriarch of a nation.

Fast forward less than four years, and Cubana Chief Priest has completely transformed his life. He’s no longer Obi Cubana’s protégé but a force in his own right, building and owning hotels, clubs, eateries, and lounges. I visited his eatery in Lekki recently and was impressed by his vision and meticulous attention to detail.

Everything Chief Priest owns today didn’t exist just four years ago when he was still seen as the loyal lieutenant of Obi Cubana. While I may not agree with all of his methods or his unique approach to success, the undeniable fact is that he has made remarkable strides in less than four years.

I follow him on Snapchat, and every time I watch his stories, I am reminded of the power of betting on oneself. His progress shows what’s possible when someone decides to succeed against all odds, regardless of what others may say or believe.

If a prophet had told Cubana Chief Priest seven years ago that he would reach these heights, he might have dismissed it. But look at him now. I wish the same kind of transformation for myself and for every young man or woman who is working hard and taking bold risks in life. Your situation can change dramatically in less than five years.

Keep putting in the work, keep showing up, and never underestimate the power of investing in relationships. Chief Priest values relationships deeply, and I’ve seen firsthand how his social connections have played a crucial role in his rise.

So, don’t give up hope that your life can change. The universe has a mysterious way of aligning things for those who are determined to rewrite their story. I’ve seen it happen time and time again.
Wishing everyone a productive week ahead!
